ROUND 5/JUNE 22, 2013 BUDDS CREEK/MECHANICSVILLE, MARYLAND MOTOCROSS P56 2013 LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES Tomac reeled off a 2:00.376, a 2:01.924, a 2:00.770, and a 1:59.823, putting him right on the Pro Circuit duo. Then, as if he was completely unstoppable, Tomac went by both of the Pro Circuit riders while putting in his fastest lap of the race on lap 11, a 1:59.289! Baggett followed Tomac past Durham and tried to latch onto Tomac, but he couldn't. Stuck in Durham's pace, Baggett was forced to watch as Tomac laid down another sub-two-minute lap – a 1:59.771 – and then a 2:00.382. At that point, Baggett was broken, and Tomac was gone, snaring his third-consecutive moto-two win at non-WMX events. "I think I am in really good shape for the second motos, but for the first motos, for me, I just need to be the one that's getting the better starts and making the passes earlier," Tomac said. "But like I said before, everyone is more fresh [in moto one], so it's tougher to do that. The first motos are disappointing for me this year, that's all I can say." Baggett hung on for second, and his 1-2 score was enough to land him his first overall victory of the year. He may have been hampered a bit by an upset stomach in moto two as well, as that was the given reason that he didn't show up to the press conference after the race and wasn't available for comment in the pits either. Durham hung on for third in front of GEICO Honda's Zach Osborne and Hahn, then came Roczen, who rounded lap one in seventh and finished sixth, just in front of Musquin. In the points chase, considerable damage was done to Roczen's lead. His 15-point lead over Tomac was cut to just nine points as we head to Southwick for round six of 12. But perhaps an even bigger deal as we go later into the season and are likely to encounter more and more hot and humid races, the defending champ Baggett came into Budds Creek fully 44 points in arrears of Roczen and gained 12 points in one event, putting him 32 points back with 350 points still up for grabs in the remaining seven rounds. Next week's event at Southwick is the final WMX event of the season, and Roczen definitely rips in the sand, but after that it's going to be all faster race schedules for the points leader.
