Webb stormed to the front of
the pack and took over the lead
before the riders went through the
third checkpoint. But then Webb
had problems and lost over five
minutes to Hart before the fourth
checkpoint, which allowed Hart
to take the lead ahead of Ashburn
and LeBlond. Hart completed lap
one in nearly 47 minutes, which
was over three minutes ahead of
Ashburn, four ahead of LeBlond
and four minutes and 21 seconds
ahead of Webb in fourth.
Robert was fifth on the FMF
KTM at the end of lap one.
Webb managed to get back
up to second place by the end
of the second lap with Ashburn
and LeBlond battling for third.
The race for the top four did
not change much despite the
extremely tough course and
over four hours of racing. Webb
closed the gap a little on Hart
and felt that he could have chal-
