VOLUME 58 ISSUE 25 JUNE 22, 2021 P59 RUSSELL'S DEBUT Multi-time GNCC Champion Kailub Russell suited up for High Point. After announcing his retirement from GNCC racing, Russell said he wanted to race the Pro Motocross Championship full time but a pre- season crash delayed his start until now. He competed in the 250MX and went 15-21 for 21st overall. He was happy with his first-moto ride, but he got caught up in a first-turn pileup in moto two. "I felt like I had more to offer today, but it's tough with the first-turn crash and being that far back when you're not used to being around that many people and hitting jumps and ruts and stuff," he said. "I was happy with how I rode in the first moto, but I have some things to improve on and work on the next couple of weeks. I want to have some fun and do the best I can out there, and I felt like today was a good day for that. I'd like to be better and more in the race but all in good time." DONUT CRAZE Team Honda's Jett Lawrence has only been racing in the U.S. for less than two years, but the char- ismatic Australian is already build- Briefly... Fans saw the Eli Tomac of old in the second moto.
