High Point Raceway has been on the AMA Pro Motocross sched- ule every year since 1977, but it was absent for the first time last year due to Covid-19 restrictions in Pennsylvania. This time, the restrictions were mostly all lifted, and a huge crowd turned out for the 44th running of the event. They were also treated to the first "public" podium since the pan- demic began, and a huge throng of fans was there to celebrate the winners, something the riders on the podium all seemed to relish. The track itself was in excellent shape, as a storm front seemed headed directly at the southwest- ern PA facility from Friday morning to late Saturday afternoon, yet it only drizzled briefly at the start of the first 250 moto. The threat- ened storm also led track builders Randy Poulter and Jeff Russell to not dig it as deep as usual. And so for the second round in a row the riders were treated to less deep ruts and more passing lanes, as a similar weather challenge af- fected Thunder Valley in Colorado MOTOCROSS LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND 3 / JUNE 19, 2021 HIGH POINT RACEWAY / MOUNT MORRIS, PENNSYLVANIA P58 MYOWNRACE 2 COOPER WEBB 10TH (7-11) 450MX Supercross Champion Cooper Webb con nues to struggle outdoors, as he barely cracked the top-10 overall with a 7-11. Crashes didn't help. "It was a bit of a struggle today," Webb said. "I felt like I put up a good fight in the first moto and ended up seventh. In the second moto, I got tangled on the start and I ended up crashing three mes coming through the pack, so that was pre y unfortunate." 90 DILAN SCHWARTZ 9TH (6-13) 250MX Dilan Schwartz (BarX/Chaparral/Ecstar Suzuki) finished a career-best sixth in the first 250MX moto and followed that up with a hard-earned 13th for ninth overall. "Moto one was awesome," said Schwartz. "I got off to a decent start and made some passes to get up front with the top guys. I got to run with them for a while, which I felt benefi ed me a lot. I am pumped to finish that moto with a sixth. My second moto was rough; I had a great top-five start and unfortunately in the second turn, I collided with another rider and went down. That put me in nearly last place. I ended up crashing two more mes during the moto from just pushing it too hard to try and get into the top 10, but I only man- aged to get up to 13th." Adam Cianciarulo (9) got a moto win and was in contention for the overall victory but didn't have the pace at the end, admitting he needs to get stronger.
