eam Honda HRC's Ken Roczen put
on a dominant display at the Toyota
Thunder Valley National in Lakewood,
Colorado, and took over the early points lead
in the 450MX class after two rounds of the
2021 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Champion-
ship. The 27-year-old German import took
a narrow win in the first moto over Monster
Energy/Star Racing Yamaha's Dylan Fer-
randis, the points leader going into the event
after winning the opener last weekend.
The Frenchman, Ferrandis, ended sec-
ond in both motos, keeping him within a
single point (90-89) of Roczen, and the red
plate that is awarded to the points leader
each week.
"It seems like I'm back," said Roczen
who sat out last fall's outdoor motocross
season and last won in August 2019 at Un-
adilla. "What a perfect day. I can't believe
it, especially after last weekend getting
back into the swing of things. It seems like
I'm back to my old self. I'm super happy
with how everything turned out today."
In the 250MX class another Star Racing
Yamaha rider, Justin Cooper, ended up
taking runner-up honors in both motos but
his 2-2 was enough to beat Honda's Jett
Lawrence (4-1) and older brother Hunter
Lawrence (5-3) for the overall win.
The younger Lawrence maintained the
points lead in this class after a disastrous
day for former two-time 250 MX Champion
Jeremy Martin. The Star Racing Yamaha
PERFECTION!
