MYOWNRACE
94 KEN ROCZEN
9TH 450SX
"[Atlanta 1] was a tough one," said Ken
Roczen who took a big hit in the cham-
pionship a er placing ninth. "I really
messed up on the start and then [Jus n]
Barcia crashed in front of me. I got
caught up in his bike, so I had nowhere
to go and ended up dead last. I wasn't
feeling myself all day and ul mately
didn't feel good. I finished in ninth
place, which is the last thing we needed
at the moment, but all I can do is go
out there and try my best. I'm going to
forget about this past weekend, move
on, and see what we can do on Tuesday.
I'm looking to bounce back, get a good
start and hopefully finish somewhere
on the podium so that we don't get too
far back in points. As of right now, I just
keep losing too many points, which is
not ideal."
51 JUSTIN BARCIA
10TH 450SX
Jus n Barcia came out of the race a li le
beat up a er crashing in his heat and
taking a shot to the shin. He then got
tangled up in the first turn of the main
and ended up salvaging 10th. "It was a
tough day, for sure," Barcia said. "I felt
good at the start of the heat race but
Tomac, on the Monster En-
ergy Kawasaki, executed one of
his patented come-from-behind
wins to keep himself in conten-
tion in this year's championship
with just four races to go. Tomac
started off the main just inside
the top five, but it was a distant
top five with a rejuvenated Aaron
Plessinger (Monster Energy Star
Racing Yamaha) holeshotting and
quickly sprinting away. But Tomac
and the rest of the front-runners
got a huge break when Plessinger
tipped over on the seventh lap
(of what would be a 12-lap race),
throwing away what surely ap-
peared to be his first 450SX win of
his career; instead, he would fin-
ish a disappointing (for him) sixth.
