INTERVIEW
P60
COOPER WEBB
Webb has shown
that he's not afraid
to mix it up with guys
like former World
Champions Ken
Roczen and Marvin
Musquin.
I passed some really good guys,
which was an incredible feeling.
It was very cool."
Unfortunately, Webb's second
moto at Thunder Valley didn't go
as well, with a crash leaving him
with a 17th at the end of the race.
Still, his first-moto heroics generated lots of exposure and plenty
of momentum for the young Yamaha rider.
"Coming into the season I
wasn't sure where I'd fit in, but I
knew that all of my training had
been paying off, and I wanted to
do well right away, so I was happy with my third in Colorado," he
said. "So know I kind of have an
idea where I'm at and I'm happy
with it."
"
I PASSED
SOME REALLY
GOOD GUYS,
WHICH WAS AN
INCREDIBLE
FEELING.
"
Webb credits his team for his
quick start out of the gate in that
he's had over a year to get familiar with them.
"I love everybody here," he
says. "It's a great team and everyone gives 100% to make sure I
have everything I need to do well.
I couldn't ask for more."
The next weekend in Tennessee, at the debut race of the
Muddy Creek facility, Webb was
in the mix again, leading the
opening lap of moto one and giving Roczen a run for his money
for the first few laps. Webb finally dropped off the pace near
the end of the moto and finished
the moto in fifth, but he certainly
proved – again – that he has the
speed, if even for a few laps, to
run with the best. Webb stumbled again in moto two and could
only managed 15th-place finish,
giving him 10th overall for the day.
"It's all a learning experience,
and I just need to keep putting my
head down and trying as hard as I
can."
