LOOKING BACK
Darrell Shultz was pictured on the cover of Cycle News 40 years ago
after grabbing career wins numbers one and two at the Seattle Kingdome
doubleheader. As a result, Shultz overtook Mark Barnett for the
championship lead... We reported that Suzuki was being challenged for
the rights of its Full Floater rear suspension design... Danny Chandler
edged out Ron Turner for the 125cc MX title in the DG Golden State
Motocross Series at Saddleback... We chatted with flat trackers Steve
Eklund and Jay Springsteen.

A supercharged Harley-Davidson drag racer that just ran 152 mph in 10.19
seconds at Irwindale was featured on the cover of Cycle News 50 years
ago... We featured an interview with National Enduro Champion Jack
McLane who thought the sport was becoming too "professionalized" and
didn't like the idea of factory involvement in the sport of enduro... Rich
Thorwaldson won the Orange County MC's Hare Scrambles at Lucerne
