Steve Morehead came away with the win... Jean-Michel Bayle won the
San Diego Supercross at Jack Murphy Stadium. Local hero Rick Johnson
was honored in what would be his last race at his home track... John
Dowd and Barry Carsten wrapped up Florida Winter MX Championships
at Gatorback... Larry Roeseler
competed in seven classes at the
Desert Vipers' Adelanto GP, and he
won them all... Stefan Peterhansel
was his first Paris-Dakar Rally.

FEBRUARY 14, 2001
We traveled to Homestead to ride Aprilia's new RSV Mille sportbikes,
one of which was pictured in action the cover of Cycle News 20 years
ago... The Anaheim 3 Supercross played out at Edison International
Field of Anaheim, and Ricky Carmichael came back from 10th place
to take the win, and that included passing leader Jeremy McGrath;
Ernesto Fonseca won the 125cc West main event... Destry Abbott
won the Winter Classic Hare & Hound.
