LOOKING BACK
A photo of Jay Springsteen celebrating his win at the Houston Astrodome
graced the cover 40 years ago. It was the opening round of the AMA Grand
National Championship/Winston Pro Series. He fought back Scott Pearson
to get the win. The next day at the same venue, Steve Eklund won round
two over Springsteen... We had coverage of the SCORE Park 400, where
the Yamaha-mounted duo of Larry Roeseler and Bruce Ogilvie came away
with the win. They finished just 30 seconds ahead of the Chuck Miller/Jim
Fishback Yamaha team... We interviewed Kent Howerton.
