pulled back onto the track but not
before letting Tomac by after hav-
ing gained a slight advantage.
"I ended up cross-rutting off
of the second double so I was
deciding in the air whether I could
brake and still tuck to the inside
to stay in the track, but I would've
gone into the Tuff Blocks," said
Tomac. "I had to make my way
all the way around the berm; I
couldn't get an advantage, so I
had to let Eli by."
Once again, Tomac was out in
front, but not for long.
"In that same lap," Roczen
said, "he left the door open and I
took the opportunity to pass him."
From that point on, Roczen
managed to keep the defending
champ at bay to take the win.
Like the previous race at Hous-
ton 3, Roczen was under heavy
pressure late in the race but this
time he had an unobstructed path
to the checkered flag. Roczen
crossed the finish line just 1.5
seconds ahead of Tomac.
27 MALCOM STEWART
11TH 450SX
"It was tough, honestly," said Malcom
Stewart of his night. "I felt like riders
were going down le and right. It was
one of those tracks where I think if you
just stayed up, honestly, I felt like your
results came. It was a very tough track to
push. It got to a point I think in the race
we were riding against the track instead
of each other. But Indy always throws
curveballs at us. I feel like the next round
won't be as so . For us, we just need to
go out there and regroup and put our-
selves back in a good figh ng posi on.
Definitely, 11th is not the way I wanted
it, but on a bad night to come back from
last to 11th on a tough track, I can vouch
for it and take it as a posi ve."
42 MICHAEL MOSIMAN
2ND 250SX EAST
Michael Mosiman (TLD/Red Bull/Gas-
Gas) put himself in the right spot at the
right me and finished out the night on
the podium in second place. He rode ex-
cep onally well all night. "It was a great
night," Mosiman said. "I got off to a bet-
ter start this me, and I was right there
with those guys. I haven't been able to
see those Star Racing guys a lot this year,
so it was really nice to catch a wheel and
ride with them. We got into some really
