2021 DAKAR RALLY REVIEW
P64
Feature
Jose Ignacio Cornejo,
or "Nacho" as he's more
commonly known, was looking
good to take his first Dakar win
after Toby Price's accident.
However, it all went pear-
shaped on Stage 10, as the
factory Honda rider crashed
and suffered a concussion. He
made it to the end of the stage
but race organizers deemed
him unfit to race, and he was
transported to hospital
for observation.
The 2021 Dakar will go
down as a black mark for
the Yamaha factory. None
of their four riders made it
to the finish. Andrew Short's
race was done by Stage
Two, when water made its
way into his fuel, while riders
like Franco Caimi (pictured),
Ross Branch and Adrien Van
Beveren all went out with
technical problems. CN
