MyPlash Metal Mulisha Yamaha's Jeremy Martin grabbed the start of the second moto with Osborne, Tomac, Roczen and Baggett in close pursuit. Tomac moved into the lead quickly and Roczen took a trip off the track but maintained second. His teammate Musquin would also take an off-track adventure shortly thereafter. Tomac took advantage of Roczen's mistake by putting his head down and sprinting away. By lap five, he had already developed a 12-second lead over Roczen. By now the track was dry, rough and dusty, and with a shorterthan-usual break between motos because of the live television scheduling, it was obvious that some were struggling with endurance in the thin air of Colorado's high altitude. Osborne was the surprise P61 rider in this one. He held down third for the entire race, stalking Roczen and was close enough to pounce when Roczen slowed momentarily for a lapper on the final go-around. Tomac would take his first moto win of the year some 20 seconds ahead of his teammate Osborne, whose pass on Roczen also helped Tomac pull back five points on his rival.
