The Mini O's, aka Florida Winter Olympics, was our cover story 30 years
ago. Jeff Dement, Ezra Lusk, Ryan Hughes and minicycle racer Ricky
Carmichael were some of the standout riders... Once again, the canceled
Barstow-to-Vegas Hare & Hound was replaced by another race, this one
called Battle-to-Victory, which was held
in Lucerne Valley, California. Danny
Hamel took the win 10 minutes ahead
of Dan Richardson... Jeff Stanton
was crowned Masters of Motocross
Champion in France.

We tested the all-new 2001 Yamaha YZ250F, which was pictured in action
on the cover of Cycle News 20 years ago. It was the first production
250cc four-stroke motocross bike of the modern era... We covered the
two-day Barstow-to-Vegas Dual Sport Ride. The winner? Everyone...
Andrew Short, Davi Millsaps, BJ Huntsinger, Ryan Villopoto, Broc
Helpler, Robert Kiniry and RJ Thompson were some of the big winners
at the Mini O's in Florida.
