rival, veteran Henry Wiles on the
RMR Honda having to sit out
not feeling 100% after his crash
at the previous round in Texas,
Daniels did not consider the
title in the bag. Fellow up-and-
coming rider Max Whale on the
Coondoo Cattle Co. Australian
Road Services Kawasaki KX450
was tied for second in the stand-
ings and ready to delay Daniels'
coronation. He showed strength
straight away on the clay half-
mile as the fastest qualifier,
ultimately taking pole with his
semi win.
Although he struggled early
on, that did not deter the Este-
nson Racing rider. He won his
semi and went into the main
event with the same strategy.
