OCTOBER 10, 1990
Ronnie Jones, who was pictured on the cover, won the last National
held at Ascot Park 30 years ago. The race actually ended on a red flag
with Jones taking the win... Jeff Ward and Mike Kiedrowski won at
the 500cc/125cc National Motocross at Steel City. Guy Cooper lost
the 125cc points lead when a rock punctured his Suzuki's engine cases
and DNF'd the first moto. He won the second moto... Danny Hamel
won the Mesquite Grand Prix after
Greg Zitterkopf was penalized for
speeding in the pits.

OCTOBER 11, 2000
We featured a couple of champions on the cover of Cycle News 20 years
ago. We interviewed Hare & Hound champ Destry Abbott and Enduro
champ Mike Lafferty... We also had an interview with Kenny Roberts
Jr... Nicky Hayden won the final AMA Superbike race of the year at Willow
Springs. Mat Mladin won the title for the second year in a row; Kurtis
Roberts wrapped up the 600cc Supersport Championship... Chris Carr
won the Formula USA/Wrenchead.com National Dirt Track in Phoenix.
