LOOKING BACK
We pictured a couple of bikes from Honda's new 1981 lineup, including
the Pro-Link-suspended CR250R motocrosser... We reported the passing
of popular star motocrosser Gaylon Moiser who was killed when the
26-year-old was hit by a truck while training on his bicycle near Rochester,
New York. The Californian was in New York for the Trans-USA motocross
at Unadilla... Kent Howerton won the Unadilla Trans-USA race... Billy
Labrie won the GNC final at Ascot but Randy Goss win the title by one
point over Hank Scott.

Brad Lackey was pictured on the cover 50 years ago. The Californian
headed East to Ohio to compete in the inaugural Trans-AMA MX Series...
In the Inter-Am Championship at Pepperell, Massachusetts, Arne Kring
and Bengt Aberg were the top dogs... We featured our coverage of the
45th ISDT that was held in Spain, where six Americans returned with
gold medals... We covered the Big Bear Motocross at Big Bear Lake,
California. Jim West and Mark Blackwell battled it out for the win; West
ended up taking the overall win.
(Above) Randy Goss wrapped
up the 1980 GNC title at Ascot
Park in 1980. He edged out
Hank Scott (left) by one point.
Guy Cooper saw his championship
hopes take a big hit when a rock
holed the engine cases of his
Suzuki at Steel City 30 years ago.
