R.J . Bartholomeus grabbed the holeshot , fol lowed cl osely by Mich ael Voyl es and Nich ol as
Bay erte . With ab out a l a p co m p l ete,
Bartholo me us was unde r all sort s of pressure
fro m second back to ninth - tha t' s how cl ose
th e racin g wa s. It was hard to k eep up with the
po sitio n changes. In one co rne r, Voy les was
th e leader, and in the next it wo uld be Bayert e.
Eve ry so oft en , a rider in fift h - such as Bill y
M usgrave - and Sweeden wo uld pop into the
pi ctur e , vy i n g for t h e l e ad . A s th e r a c e
approac hed the final laps. th ings were sti ll as
close as eve r. In one co rner, Sweeden went
fro m fo urth to firs t and ne ver loo k ed ba ck .
Wh en Sweede n got th e lead , he was able to
put a little tim e on th e rest of the class. On the
last lap , Swee den se emed to have t hi ng s
u nder control , w hich left an all-out w ar for
