Th en A ll en shot a turn , got tang led in the rib bons and lo st his back brakes, allow ing Sampson t o m ake his move fo r sec o n d place and C regg to p lunge ahead for a st ronger lead . A llen finished the race in third place without using his rear br ak es. "After I got control," Cregg reported. " I felt in contro l and felt like I was pulling a good pace." T he firs t lap took 28 m inut e and 21 se con ds to c o m p let e I 1.6 m iles, and Cregg 's fastes t lap was 28 :09. He rode h ard a nd f ast to kee p hi s AA le ad , an d w ith each additional lap, Cregg go t better and better. "I w ante d t o stay in fro nt of Sampson ," Cregg said , simply. "I had a lot of fu n at th is race, and I alway s do a good j ob he re, bu t I had m uch tro u bl~ w ith th e lap p ers , " Sampso n said. "I would get by three or fo ur in one area to fi nd th at I would have troubl e in another area." The track was considered lo ng and rou gh , and included tight ridges that ma de it di f f i cu l t to pass i n so me areas. It al so had steep ravin es, stee p h ills , and o ne single -la ne brid ge. It was definitely con sid ered a challeng ing course, and some of the C riders were g lad t o be rero ut ed into eas ier te rrai n . "I f the la ppe rs wo uld j ust pull ov er sli ghtly, it wou ld help ," clai med A A ri der M ike M cCr ea. "I h a d a lo t of trouble because th ey just wouldn 't let m e p a ss , a n d I th i nk I m a y h av e m ad e so m e en e mies . I didn 't pur p o se l y hurt a nyone , but i t ca n be q ui te frustrating ." McCrea clai m ed fourth pla ce in the AA class. F ifth place in the AA cl ass went to M ike Kiedrowsk i 's m ech an ic , Sh an e Fernley International Raceway : Honda-mounted Sven St ill moc k (81 K) won both Over 30 Pro motos at round six of the Nevada State Ch am pi o nship Series in Fernley.
