Mo rga n appr o ach ed Ran k in for th e pass going into turn one . Exiting tu rn two , Boken had a cqu ir e d th e le ad an d Harrison was nowhere in sight. Th e orde r beh ind Boken was Dav id Alan Br own , Acre e , Ra nkin, Lawter a n d Morgan as they wen t throug h t u rn four . As th e y pas sed the flag sta nd to start la p three , Boken led Acree by a seco nd, fo llowed b y Brown, and a second a nd a half ba ck were Rankin, La wt e r a nd then Morga n , who was really working his Yamaha to move up . Acree acquired t h e le a d from Boken at the st art of lap fou r and led by two bike lengths down the front straight. Brown. Rank in , La wte r and Morgan trailed the leaders through turn t h r e e , and Harr ison , hav ing recovered from his turn-one e xcu rsion , made h is way back to eighth. Acree opened second -and -a -ha lf lead o ver Bo ke n on lap five , with a three -second ga p back to Bro w n , who now o nly hel d a second-and -aha lf lead over Ha rr is o n . The order rem a ine d the sa me t hroug h la p s ix, a bo ut eight min utes into the 3 0 m inute t im ed e ve nt. Harrison , eager to m a ke up los t t im e , was chise ling aw ay a t th e to p th ree . On lap seve n, Ha rr is on passed Brown in turn one for th ird a nd set his s ights on Boken. Lawter and Morgan trai led . Harriso n co nt inued his ram p a g e and Acr ee se em ed to ba ck off a little , as his lead had been as much as nine seconds . But at nearly ha lf-d istanc e , Ac ree led by only six seconds ah e ad o f Bo k en , wh o was 4 1/ 2 second s ahead of Harrison . Go ing into t u rn fo u r, Morg an reall y put in a val ian t effort o n an o u t g u n n e d R6 an d pa s s ed Lawter's R 1 in a very s lic k m ov e . Lawte r and Morgan co ntinued th e ir battl e , with La wt er ' s gre ate r power making th e differ en c e b y ra c e ' s end . Har r is o n caugh t and passed Bo ke n for the runn e r-up s pot a t two -th ird s d ista nce, a nd Ac ree had a better-than- 15 -second le a d at the c heckered fla g . Th oug h Acree took the Unl im ited GP finale o n Sunda y a nd Harris on was runn er-up , Harrison made hi s mark on th e we e kend by secu ring the Unlimited Supers port, Heavyw e ig ht Sup erbike and Heavyweight Super Sport victories .
