National Pro J im Povolny also p ut in some go od rid es; he won th e 125cc A cl ass took second beh ind Vo ss in th e 16 -24 A co ntes t and third in 250cc A co m petition, behind Voss and Cory Keeney . The event was held th e day after the Super Series banquet , with 548 riders on hand - a gre at turnout for a no-p oin ts, end · of -the-season Oct ober event. Oth er double-class winners on the day includ ed Team Green rider Cody Gilm ore, who won the 8Ccc (7 - I 1) and 80c c (9- 13) classes, and Mike Uttle, the 250cc C and 16-24 C winner, Fo urteen fast riders lined the gate in the 16 24 A class. B.J . J ohnso n nabbed the holeshot on a new , stock VZ250, with Mike Kann , Brent Ma son and Voss behind. Kann led after the sandwash, whi le Voss and Povoln y m oved past Johnson. Voss passed Ka nn on the first down · hill , sim ply holding the throttle on long er an d braki ng later for a smooth pass. At the end of lap one, Voss was in the lead , but suddenly he sta lle d at the finish line and was franticall y kic k in g his bike over as Povolny and Ka nn slipped by . Tucker Hibbert was now fou rth , with Johnson fifth . O n lap two, Voss repassed Kan n in the sam e spot he had a lap earlier . Povolny went th e dista nce to take the mota win. with Voss second , Ka nn thi rd , Hibbert fou rth . and Matt Oma nn roundin g out the top five . In m ota tw o , Johnson agai n o utj um ped some hot bi kes to tak e the ho leshot, with Voss and Povolny rig ht behi nd. After lap one, Voss was the m an , w ith Po vol ny, Ka nn , Hibbert, Oma nn and J oh nson following. Voss went on to take th e m ota and overall victory w ith ease , ahead of Pavolny . Kann ran third m ost of the race, until Hibbert , who seem ingly cam e out of nowh ere, pulled up on and passed the surprised Kan n at the end of the m oto for th ird . Fifth and sixth again went to Oma nn and Jo hnso n. Recent rains made th e tra ck m udd y , wi th 8 -inch ruts in the comers. but A etcher fo und the tra ck suited his sty le, and he walked away with co nvinci ng wins in the Open Pro IT and 250cc Pro classes. The O pen Pro IT heat was a runaw ay for Retc her. He was so far ahead tha t the second pla ced rider couldn' t even see him after two laps. F letcher began th e m ain event w ith a holeshot . in fr ont of C .J . B eving a nd Brad Let cher. It di dn ' t take F letcher long to pu ll away , as his knobby -tire d YZ42 6F hooked up despite th e rutt ed , mu dd y cond itions. Despite Beving 's best efforts, Fletch er was out of sight withi n a few turns . Bev ing was racin g fo r m ore than just the win; he trailed po ints leader Chad John son by six go ing into the nigh t. Johnso n was ru nn ing fourth, behin d Beving and Letch er, d uring the early stages . Letcher challenge d Bev i ng several t imes each lap but co uldn' t m ak e a m ov e stic k. Fletcher took the win with a m il e to spa re, but the battl e for seco nd went dow n to the wire. Bevin g held on to seco nd , with Letch er th ird and Johnson fourth. In the 25 0cc Pro heat race, Fl etcher took the win , in fron t of Letcher. By the tim e the 250cc Pro m ain event wa s read y to start , the racetrac k was down to two lin es.
