Barnh ar t we nt by Turner on the last lap for the moto wi n . Bell took com m an d o f th e po int posi tio n in moto two , wh ile Turner and Barnhart wrest led all moto for second. The sco reboard had Turn er on to p via his 2 -2 ta lly, over Barnhart's 1-3 score, while F lorida 's Be ll was fourth ove ra ll wi th a 11- 1 showing . W ith more than 950 e nt ries c o m pe t i n g for an increased purse of $4000 ( court esy of Bl uff Mountain Adventures , FasTrack s of Pig eon F o rge a nd Pi g eo n Forge Super Sp eedway) , the event was not hampered by the half -inch of rai n pr eceding Sunday's m ain eve nt. In th e first 125cc A /P ro m oto , Metc alf fir ed off the gate with Chad W ar d, Donnie Ad am s, Georg ia 's Ma tt Shu e, Jim Ch est er and Robb i e Horto n in pursu it. M et cal f im medi ate ly pu lled awa y fr om W ard , who then h i t the fa ce of a doub le j um p and slid sid eways , dropp ing severa l positions . B y th e s econ d l ap, Shu e had m ov ed up t o seco nd and Horton to t h ird . Shu e a n d Ho rton battl ed for sec o n d unt il H orton file d b y a n d ch a rge d afte r M etc alf. On t he final l ap , Hort on q u ickly clo se d the g a p and c rui sed by M et c al f for t h e lead. Met c alf repa ssed Horton to rega in th e front spo t . Metca lf snared th e holeshot in moto two , with Ward cl ose at han d and Horton l ast o ff t he g at e. M et calf aga i n pu lled aw ay fr om Ward on l ap one , building a nine-seco nd lead . Horton , in II th , slid down , his bike landi ng o n top o f h i m . Horton re mo u nted but eve ntua lly pulled off th e track and did not fi nish . Meanwhile, Sh u e ap pl ied pressu re to second-p laced W ar d . On the fina l lap , Ward was nowhere to be seen . Shu e was second, Aa ro n Di eter fi led by in th i r d , an d Ch e st er w a s fourt h . Ward reappeared , pushing hi s bik e across the line for 11th. "M y foot sli pped off th e pe g and I shifte d to o ne sid e and go t cross-r ut ted ," W ard explai ned . "I h it m y fro nt brake lever into my k nee , and it was hurti ng, so I just waited to pull across to take the checkered ." The Metcalf/H orton b attl e co nt in ued i n the fi rs t 2 5 0 c c A /P ro moto . Metcalf was first around t urn one, fol lowed by Horton and t hen Wa rd . Metcalf pulled out a fi ve-second lead ove r Hort on . On th e second la p , M etcalf erred com ing through a turn but d idn 't allow Horton to pass. As a bri ef rain sho wer ca m e down , Ho rton began to close th e gap to Metca lf. By the thi rd lap, Me tc alf and Ho rt on rode side by si de.
