By lap two , Sciecqua was back up into fourth place, and shortly thereafter he got aro und Zahrt for thir d. Sciac qua continued his ma rch forward, pick ing off Rob ert s fo r seco nd p lace afte r 15 mi nutes of the race were co m pleted. It took Sciec que anothe r three laps to slowly reel in Welty. who put up a good fight. but with almos t 30 m inutes of the 45 ·minute race now history, Sciacqua fin ally took over the lead once and fo r all. Sciac qua weaved his way in and out of lapped riders during the fin al 15 mi nutes to easily tak e th e win aboard hi s F&L Fuel/Sim i Cycl es/O' Nea l-back ed RM250. Cam pbell extended his already domina ting points lead in the Senior class with an im pressive 3 . 18 -second win ning ride on his KX500 , wi th Kevin McKay, also on a KX5 00 , running seco nd in 4.4 15 seconds. Cam pbell was not happy with his evening, however, as his Kawasa ki literally blew apart at the line as he was preparing for his second run, and he rolled the bike back to the pits with the crank and rod hanging through the botto m of the cases. With $4 00 to win and $4 00 in lap money up fo r gra bs , 29 of the Northeast' s best Pro short -trac kers were on hand to try fo r th e prize. Dua ne Veed er , Georg ie Pric e, Will iam Ad am s and Rog er Dur kee each won their heat races , w ith Pric e get ting th e pole posit ion in th e m ain .
