Santich Cycles Grand Prix of M otocross Hurricane Hills Sports Center • Plotts eas ily topp ed the 250cc A pod ium with a p erfect 1-1 score . Ke rry Kam ins kie ea rned ho le s hot honors in the first 85c c (7 - I 1) moto and had Marsha ll Hu r d , Michael Mazur, Zac hary W hitmore and Michael Nentwig in tow. The to p two remained unchanged at th e start of la p two, while Donny Buchter moved up to third, Mazu r dropped a spot to fourt h and Nicholas McPhee moved up to fifth. Whitmore d ropped ba ck to s ixth . About half a lap later , David Karney moved up to fourth, Wh itmore came back to fifth a n d Mazur dropped to sixth . SANDERSON By CUFFORD,PA,SEPT.17 . he Santich Cycles Grand Prix of Motocross, hosted by Tom Hurd Promotions , is held annually at the Hurric a ne Hills Sports Center and fea tu res an AMA District 6 points race wit h a ll the usual classes, but when the re gu la r race program concl udes, th e Gr a n d Prix classes a re ru n. A c o m b ine d class of A an d B riders raced the first 3 0 -mi n ute -pl us- twolap m ot o , then th e C cla ss ra n thei r" 30- mi nu te moto, a nd fina lly the Mini rid e rs took to the race co u rse for a 2 0 -m in ut e - pl us -t wo -ia p m oto . Th e riders wh o e lected to pa y th e ex tra $10 to race the gra nd prix ra ces definitely got th eir money's worth . VP E - b a c k e d Pro rider Da mi en Pl ot t s topped the podium in the 250cc Open A and Over 25 Open A cla sse s and in the A-class grand prix, taki ng hom e a large c h u n k of the da y's purse. It was a perfect day for Plotts in the 250cc Open A and Over 25 Open A classes, as he carded perfect 1-1 scores in both classes. Plotts also smo ke d the field in the A-cl a ss grand prix, lapping 'the en tire field of riders except one. With one more lap, he would ha ve lapped the e nti re field . Plott s piloted his RM to the front of the pa c k a nd ro unded th e firs t turn in the lead , tr ailed b y Willie Boza c k , J a s o n Harp er , Glen Bo y esen and Da vid Gino lfi. Plotts had a five- second advanta ge by th e time he cle a red the s pec tato r trip le . Plott s was gone by th e start of lap two , with a n I Isecond le a d. Boza ck a nd Ha rpe r were st ill s e c ond a nd th ird , but Bo ye sen ha d so me bad luck a nd went do wn. Ginolfi moved up to fourth a nd Tom Littm an was fifth. J immy Miller was u p t o sixth b y lap two after goi ng down in the first turn and was already pressu ring Littman. T 44 O CTO BER 1 8 , 2 000 c Plo tts increased his lead to a who ppi ng 16 seconds by the s ta rt of lap thr ee. Harper mad e a pass o n Bozack for second a bout ha lfwa y through lap t h r e e . Plotts easily won the first moto with a lea d of m ore than 20 sec onds and d id a nice wh ip -it , to the delight of the crowd. Rounding out the top five were Harper, Bozack, Ginolfi and Miller. Plotts repeated his excellent start in the second 250cc A moto and once again took the point position a nd was never challenged. Tha t was Mc Phee's c ha nce to clai m fourth, bu t th en he bobb led , a llow ing Mazur to mov e up to fourth. Mc Phee ha d to sett le fo r fifth . Kam in ski e took t he checkered flag a nd th e m oto win with a 20-secon d le a d , t rail ed by Hu rd , Buchter, McPhee and Mazur .
