Neel p ress ured Summey for se cond . J im Chester , who had a se v e n t h- p l ac e start, moved up to fo urth to challenge Nee!. T wo laps before the chec ke rs , Chester got by Nee!. Meanwhile, Shue and Summey pull ed aw ay f rom the pack and made th e ir way th ro ugh l a p p e d riders, a llowing C hester to ca tch up. On the final lap , Summey ap plied pressure to Shue as a la pped r ider came between t he pair. Sh ue he ld o n to t he lead f or the win , fol lowed by Summey , Chester and Nee!. Summey h ad h is rev enge in the second m oto . He landed t he w in fo r the overa ll , while Sh ue had to settle for second. Neel was a no -sh ow . Lon do n's Kevin Black, who fin ished sixth in m oto o ne , finished thi rd. Chester fi nished fifth . Nee l w as the ea rly lead er in the 125cc Pr o co ntest, w ith Shue, Carl Swi ge r and Ches te r in pursu it. Ches te r m ov ed b y Sw iger by the second lap . Summ ey , who started in six th , worked his way up to fourth by the th ird lap . N eel m ain t ain ed t he lead , but Shue stead ily closed t he gap un til they rode side by side. On the fina l lap, Ch ester tried to get by Shue, and the front t hre e r i d er s c h a ll en g ed eac h other. Th e che ck ers fell for Nee l, fo llowed by Shue and then Che ster.
