It was a 13-mile s pecial test to the finish at an im poss ible 3 0 mph average . T h e wickedly steep hillclimb turned into a fast single trail loaded with hund reds of switchbacks a n d off -camber shelf sections. S c hm e lzle ca rded a bli stering 6 :0 4 . Neumeister was pumped on this stuff, bu t he ble w his rear tire, which took him to a 7 :5 7 . KTM-mo un te d Bright was next with 8: 15 , and then ca me KX ride r Larratt with an 8:56. O n c e t h e d u st cleared , it was S c hm e lzle a nd Neumeister tied at 10. T h e S ix Da ys vet eran , Schmelzle , e dged ou t t h e win vi a tie- b re a ke r points .
