Batey took th e ho leshot in both m otos and, despite chall enges by Co rey Penningt on and Kyl e Bergantz , held his lin es lap afte r lap an d took wire-to- wi re victo ries. Th e AMP crew head ed tow ar d th e coa st and set up cam p in th e coo l hill s of Hollister . Mo re than 330 rid ers enjoyed the m ild temper atu res and welc omed the oppo rtu nity to race in the m id dle of sum m er w ithout overheating. In m oto on e, Batey quickly opened up a co m fortable lead . Pennington , Berga ntz, Wes ley Norri s and Joey Harr is gave chase. An overzealous Norris brought up the rear, as he had stuck his Suzuki 's front wheel under the start gate. Despit e the constant pressure, Batey kept his coo l and crossed th e finish line j ust o ne bi ke length ah ead of Berga ntz .
