Well ov er 600 entrants showed up , and there wa s a br eak in the hi gh temperatures and hum id it y that th e area has been seei ng lately - bu t the heat was repla ced by rain , w h ich fell o n Sat u r da y n ig h t and Sunda y mo rni ng . How ever , John Mart in and the High Wi nd ers cl ub were up to th e task of m aking th e ra ce day a success , and th at they d id . Parts o f th e t ra ck h ad to be shorte ne d o r rero uted - incl uding the hill s, because of th e mud prob lem - and for the fi rst time in m em o ry , th e sand -wa sh whoop section was cut out due to standing wa ter . Th e event was also an A.MA D istr ict 23 pre mier event, More than 400 rid ers att ended Satu r d ay ' s p ra ct ic e , and e ven 25 0 cc Pro National fro nt -runner Sebastian T o rt ell i show ed up (tho ug h som ewhat incognit o ) and was smooth and unbelievably fast. to say th e least. He was getting in some t ime o n the t rack d u r ing a break on th e Pro Nation al schedule . Race action was good, with a hig h level of co m pe t ition i n a ll clas ses , incl ud ing the m icros, which are run on a separa te track at Spring Creek .
