Keuntjes made a couple of qui ck passes, and by time the pack reached the whoop section, she was in fir st pla ce. Keuntjes continued her lead into the third lap, with Hudson close behind. Jess ica Patterson began to really apply the pressure on th e tw o front-runners and then made her way into the lead . K euntjes stayed clo se to Patterson for several lap s. On th e si xt h lap, Jessica jumped an uphill double and her front end w ashed out upon land in g. Ke untjes was very close behind and hit the downed bike in her path and went down as well. Keuntjes was ab le to get up and get started quickIy , and she began to extend her lead. Keuntjes won the moto, claiming her fi rst Pro National ov erall victory . Logging activity ha d reduc ed what had previ ou sl y b een ti ght, wo od ed sec t io ns t o dry , d usty trails rid dl ed with stu m ps and other surprises. There was sca nt reli ef fro m the dust in a sho rt sect io n th at ran down a slate-bottomed creek , and the gO-d egree heat led to dehyd ration and fatigu e for many riders trying to fini sh all fiv e laps on the 7.5 -mile course . Wh en th e hat dropp ed , th e AA class to ok off of the line wi th Vall ey Kawa saki/FMF/ Whit e Brothers -sp on sored Step hen Edmondson at the head of th e pack. Gas Gas rid er Dan iel Morri son and Yamaha rid er J ason Gr eer w er e se conds behind Edm ond son throughout th e race . Edmondson was riding a perfect race until he slid out on a rocky off-camber, g iving Morrison the op portunity to catch him.
