In the very fast turn off the start, KTM rider Brian Thompson took the lead in the 200cc B class and k ept up a tremendous pace du r ing the firs t half of the race, but he began to lose t ime due to dehydration in the last l aps . Yamaha r ider Ch ris Cooper latched on to Thompson 's rear fender on th e la st lap . Thompson perked up and maintained first to the fin ish , with Co oper right beh ind him in se c ond.
