James went inside while Kilman sta yed wide, whi ch allowed him to outpower James down the ba ck straight and take the lead. With the battle between Ki lman and James settled . the battle for third was up for g rabs. W ilson controlled third but was being pres - sured by Yamaha pilots Bob Baron and Holm . in fourth and fifth resp ectively. Baron was th e first to make a move; he shot around Wil son to secure third . Wil son dro pped to fou rth . while Holm remained in fifth . Kilman con tinued to dis tan ce himself fro m the field . James and Baron we re equall y com fortabl e in second and th ird . Wils on and Holm conti nued to ba tt le for fourth but wer e losing ground to the hard-charqinq Mark Headley. With th e race entering th e late stages , Headley wo rke d his way arou nd Holm for fi fth and then Wilson for fourth. A fte r a tough 45-minu te m ota , the checkers gree ted Ki lma n as he cru ised across th e fi nis h lin e. James came hom e a dista nt secon d , wi th Ba ron ta k ing the fi na l spo t on the podium in third. Headley and Wilson rounded out the top five in fourth and fifth. respectively.
