In the Four-Stoke A class, Kawasa ki ride r Danny Morrison battled Honda
ri der T o m my As h ley . Mo rr ison
grabbed the holeshot, a nd Ashley had
to work h is wa y through traffic to
c atc h him on the second la p. When
the two c a me up to a huge mudhole,
Ashley picked the fa ste r line and took
the lead. Morrison sta ye d tight un t il
Ashley took a dive down a rooty hill.
Morrison took th e lea d a nd the win at
the finis h , with Ashley reco ve ring to
t a k e sec o n d. Yamaha rider Mik e
Capewell took third.
In th e Ve t A class, no one could
touch Husqvarna rider David White,
who opened up a tremendous lead
and stretched it to within 45 seconds
of taking the overall.
"If I had known that I had a shot
for the overall, I would have turned it
up more!" commented White, who
added jokingly, "Tha t Ger itol sure
helps a loti"
In the Open A class, Gas Ga s rider
Randall Ellison banged bars with KTM
rider Darryl Campbell. Approach ing a
la rge m ud hole , Campbe ll too k a wide
right line , but E llison shot straight
across and grabbed the lead. Ellison
continued to wide n the gap and took
firs t at the finish. Campbell nailed
s econd , with David Ba ldwin th ird.
In the Vet B contest, Gene Gr eer
roared ahead of th e 26-bike pack off
the start. Greer kept up his lightning fast momentum through the woods
and didn 't let up , taking the win. Rick
Huffman was ga ining on G re e r until
he hit a p a rticularly nas ty root a nd
his Honda went out from under h im .
Randy Fink passed Huffman for sec ond, and Huffman finished th ird.
In the Senio r B cl a s s, KTM rider
Tim Norris took the ho leshot but
experienced some rear-brake trouble;
however , he was a ble to fix it and
take the class win. Yamaha rider
Ernie Hostetler was runn ing second
until a broken chain took h im out of
the race. Husqvama ride r Eddie Hornick took over second. Yamaha rider
Larry Adams s lid by when Ho rn ick
o vershot an off -camber line. Adams
ma intained second to th e finish , with
Homick coming in th ird .

took the holeshot and led each of the
fi v e la p s of the 3-m il e. c o ur s e .
Cameron Sobrito wa s th ird com ing
off the line, behind Greg Cre ech , who
then twea ked h is handlebars crashing
on a small jump on th e first la p, giv-
