Th e track wa s in good shape, and the wea ther was still a little chilly and windy. Pro rider William Wil son , who com petes in the 125cc A and 250c c A cl asses, found som e competiti on in Jas on Shook, who rides in the 125 cc B and Unlimited classes . T hese guy s had the spectato rs on th eir feet. In the fi rst m ot o , Wil son got th e hol eshot, but Shook was right there with him , trying to take over, Ma tt Moor efi eld . a 250cc A rider, was clo se behind , and 125cc B rider Nick Clin e was also hang ing close, though, but not close enough. Wilson and Shoo k tak e ove r the race at the camelbac k , and they were go ne. Wilson w oul d go to the outside step-up . and Shook wou ld try to get him on the inside on the tab letop an d the ste p -u p. J ockey ing fo r the lead , th ey wen t side by side int o the curve and the whoops; Wil so n would pu ll away , and Shook wo uld co me right back and try it ag ain.
