Emanu el Manusuthakis won the Shootout at
Mo roso aft er passing Shane Prieto in th e fina l
stret ch of th e race . Prieto put his R-6 into an
ea rly lead a nd he ran out front and led th e
race for all six laps, with all of th e action go ing
on behind him. until the final charge down the
front stra ight for the chec ke red flag, The battle
was behind him , for second, between Marco
Martinez, Mauro Cereda and Ja mie Bowman.
Cereda quickly piloted his GSX·R750 into second , and R·l rider Manusuthakis moved into
third. Micha el Barn es. also on an Rc l , moved
into fourth pl ac e after pa ss ing Bowma n 's
GSX·R750.

For the second week in a row , Diamondba ck
Raceway held a round of the District 34 point
KB Racing pulled out the sto ps and. for the
series, and the big win ner w as again Carlo
2 00 0 season, treat ed rider s to a new lay out
featuring a top-gear starting -line str aightaway
Coen . who laid waste to the field with brilliant

rid e as a Novic e. had the adrenaline pumping ,

ov er th e lead . It was short -lived . th ou gh , as
Dosh reta liated o n the next lap . knoc king the
green Novice do wn a notch. Capitol Yamaha's
Chad St e phens and Goo dby al so be gan to
tu rn up the he a t , a s St ephens got aro und
S parhawk and put Hoc k down an other sp ot
while moving up to se co nd. Good by also got
m ore comfortable as th e lap s went on . push-
rid ing an d no mistakes, whil e Mike Sp ea r .

In the first 250 cc A moto, Spear took the
holeshot a nd avo ided a major pileup that too k
out the likes of Leavitt. Nevertheless, one lap
la ter, Coen was at the helm. Behind Sp ear
were Blackwell , Chuck Seguine and Elio Perriera. Seguine ran down Spear by midway and
never relinquished seco nd pl ace. Spear end ed
up third. Edwin Lyons was fourth a nd Perriera
held on for fifth.

With two laps to go, Dosh and Stephen s kept
a fa st pace up front. while Hock was Good by's

aft er Coen , pulling cl ose near the end ; however . Caen had som e extr a energy in reserve to

go . Manu su th a kis c ha llenged Prie to for the

toward the checkered flag.

Manusutha kis also won the Unli m ited Super·
sport a nd Middleweight Grand Prix eve nts and
finished second to Prieto in the GTU. Mid·
dleweight Supersport and Middleweight Super·
bik e races . He also finished third to Bow ma n
in the GTO event.
The Custom Glass Company/R iva Yama ·
ha/ Sha rkskinz;Vortex/Silkolene· backed Prieto
went home with four first-pla ce trophies after
tak ing early leads in the GTU. Middleweight
Supersport. Heavyweight Supersport and Mid·
dl eweight Sup erbike races. He also placed sec ·
ond in the GTO and Middleweight GP even ts .
Exp ert racer Robert Fi sher won fou r races,
taki ng early lead s in all four events , and he
went home with troph ies for the GT Lights ,
Lig htwe ight GP. Lightweight Superbike and
Ughtweight Supersport events .
Fisher led the field throughout the GT Ughts
race , just ahead of Dwight Lewis for most of the
30-minut e race, but on every lap he steadily
put some dista nce between the m. By halfway.
