He w as al read y two mi nutes ahead and rid ing very consis tently . However, Gerv ai s, Doug Kadro vach. Keith En gl ish and T on y Rod rig uez w ere all w it h in seconds of eac h othe r. They eve nt ua lly fini she d in that ord er, but their tim es fl uct uated co nsiderably as th ey got used to the co urse on the first la p, gOl co m fo rtable on the seco nd , and go t tired o n the third. Ka drov ac h, fo r exam ple , took back two m inutes on th e second lap th at he lost on the first. He claimed th at he simply did not have on his race face on th e first lap ; when he fina lly put it on. he picked up the pace and gained back a few positi ons. Jeff Simo nd s scratc hed out th e wi n in the Puppy Dawg class.
