Trac k owner Ken Farr ell worked the tractor for a few hours. and by halfwa y through th e firs t motes the tr ack wa s in perfect shape for th e nearly 350 rid ers on hand . All th e riders fin ished th e same in eac h mote for th eir overall s all th e way through the top five ; Aa ron Rock (4 -4) and Matthew Boyer (5-5) rounded out th e top five. Newkir k foun d tak ing to p ho no rs in the l 25cc C class a little tougher. however ; Newkirk was handed his only mota defeat of the day, in m ot a one. Scott Sarto rius houn ded Newkirk for most of th e m ot a befor e he charged past and took the wi n j ust feet in fro nt of Newki rk . Vin cent DeYou ng steadi ly pil oted his Kawasaki to thir d place, heading off Cliff Cobb, while School boy rider Davidson grabbed fifth. With a solid seco nd in mota one, Newkirk k ne w he was set up fo r the ove rall. bu t he also k ne w wh at he had to do to take home another first -p lace trop hy: w in th e mota. Whe n the ga te dr opped , Newkirk m ade sure he was out in front of the 22-rider field, and th at' s where h e sta ye d. Newkirk just edged out Sartorius fo r th e all · important second -mota win and th e we ll deserv ed overall vi ct o ry . DeYoung made it to th e fi na l step of th e podiu m . Cobb co p ped fourth ov erall despit e dr opping back to fifth in th e second m ot o . David son was a no -show for th e seco nd m oto, so John Baillio sli pped into the top fiv e o verall with fifth . If Kevin Wal ker is on hand at th e Cr eek , the Pro guys j ust accept th at the y will be racing fo r seco nd pla ce in th e 125cc A, 250cc A and Ov er 25 A cla sses. and today wa s no different. Wa lker enjoyed a six -m ot a romp for three ov erall s and t he li on ' s sha re o f the S1000 Pro purse in each class.
