At the beginning of lap three of the 12-lap
event, both Graves and Harrell - both of whom
had started the race near the back of the grid emerged near the front of the pack. Heading
down the front straight. Graves shot into the
lead. At the same time, Hagan developed
mechanical problems and pulled out of the
race, moving Harrell into third.
Rounding the long tum-eight sweeper on
lap four, Adams managed to get around
Graves to take back the lead, but Graves powered his way back into the lead on the front
straight to start the next lap.
Within a few turns, Harrell got past Adams
in turn three. Harrell then set his sights on
Graves. As they started lap 10, Harrell was
drafting Graves down the front straight.

Renowned engine builder Rick Peterson took
the measure of a competitive field of Over 40
Junior racers by sweeping both motos for the
overall class victory on the day during Racing
Enterprises Motorsports' weekly Saturday
motocross.

win in convincing fashion. Kirschner rode all
over the track on the last lap, looking for a
line to pass Cassell, but he ran out of time and
had to setUe for third. Waterhouse finished up
fourth, while Brown rounded out the top five.
On the day, the overall class victory went
to Peterson by virtue of his two·moto sweep.
Cassell took home the second-place brass,
while Kirschner earned the third· place honors,

As the final lap started, Graves and Harrell
were side by side on the front straight. In turn
fouT. they came up on some lapped traffic.
Harrell got by without a problem, but Graves
was slowed slightly - enough to give Harrell
the race victory, with Graves finishing second
and Adams third.
"This is a brand-new bike for me, and it's
just awesome, so the last thing I wanted to do
was throw it down," said Harrell after the event.
"I just wanted to ride a nice, clean race."
In the Ontario Moto Tech/Team Hewitt
Formula Two GP, Jeremy Toye was first off
the line. followed by Phillip Herrin and Graves.
On the first lap, Graves passed both Herrin
and Toye for the lead. At the same time, Her·
rin' passed T oye for second.
Midway through lap two of the 10-lap
event. Matt Wait. coming from the back of the
grid. caught and passed T aye in tum four and
then passed Herrin a few turns later.
By halfway, Wait had closed the gap significantly on Graves. Meanwhile. a three-rider
battle was under way for third. with Tony Meiring and Jacob West both challenging Toye.
On lap eight, Wait drafted Graves down the
front straight. West was third. A lap later, Toye
passed West, only to be passed again by West
a few turns later. On the final lap, Wait
crashed in tum two. The race was red-flagged.
leaving Graves with the win, followed by West
and Toye.
