Central Oregon Vs. Valley Challenge Motocross Willow Creek Motocross Park Ryan Huffman (75) soared to 1-1 moto victories in the 125cc, 250Cc and Before The Hill Pro classes and was also the first to successfully clear the monster double jump at Willow Creek Motocross Park. umphed in both classes with 1-1 tallies, besting Kawasaki rider Shawn Haberlock (3-2) and Willie Broms (23) in the 80cc Junior class. Haberlock was also runner-up to Huege in the Supermini class with 2-2 placings, followed by Alex Hill (3-3) and KTM riders Sean and Jared Berglund. KTM USA-supported Sean Berglund scored the overall win in the 60cc Advanced class, but that was attributed to the untimely demise of the high-flying Haberlock, who fell in moto two. Berglund, who trailed his KX-mounted nemesis, took the point position and a 2-1 win, ahead of Haberlock and Blake Anglen (3-2).1:N after he handily trounced a good-sized field of 125cc Junior riders. Yamahamounted Cody Richelderfer ran second to Huffman from the get-go and finished there to top the Junior portion ahead of a three-way fight for second between Jeremy Wells, Sean Light and Pete Sannan; the position went to Wells. Richelderfer was well on his way to victory in moto two when the YZ rider fell. This allowed Sannan to grab the lead late in the race and then fend off Wells, the remounted Richelderfer, and Light to net a moto win some 16 seconds behind Huffman - which also earned the Suzuki rider the overall P/W NOV: 1. STORY AND PHOTOS BY CLAY LIGHT MADRAS, OR, MAR. 19 MA National Professionals Ryan Huffman and Ryan Leach made their- presence felt at the inaugural Central Oregon Vs. Valley Challenge Motocross, held at the Madras Motocross Park. Huffman notched a three-class decimation, picking up 125cc, 250cc and Before The Hill Pro-class wins, while Leach dominated the Open Pro class. Riders from Oregon, Washington and California turned out in large numbers for the event, but the Kawasaki-mounted Huffman came up biggest in his wins. Huffman soared to unprecedented heights in his 250cc Pro-class win, as the rider from Roseburg, Oregon., became the first rider to successfully clear the massive double jump. Huffman's first overall win came in the talent-loaded Before The Hill class, which also featured the oldest of the two YZ426F-mounted Leach brothers, Roby. In both motos, Huffman darted to the head of the large field of riders and wasn't challenged in his 1-1 sweep of the class. Roby Leach was Huffman's closest competition, finishing 10 seconds behind the Kawasaki rider, netting second overall with his 2-2 finishes, ahead of Mike Cosgrove (3-4), Scott Allen (53) and Jacques Varvel (4-6). Huffman and Ryan Leach filled the Willow Creek Molllcr1lSs Park Madras, Oregon Results: March 19, 2000 /A'I t....r-G first and second positions at the unleashing of the first 250cc Prof Junior contest, but the Shoei/ Answer/Washougal MX Park/Hillsboro Motorcycles-backed Huffman soared to a moto-one win uncontested. Leach finished second, followed by a large field of 250cc Junior contestants headed up by Allen, who was aboard Huffman's 1999 ride, a Planet Honda CR. Leach pushed Huffman for most of the opening lap of moto two, but when Huffman cleared the lengthy Palmer's Jump, Huffman opened up a comfortable lead and capped off his second overall win, ahead of Leach. Allen used a 1-1 tally to top the Junior class, followed by Ray Grossaint (2-2), Varvel (3-4), Cosgrove (5-6) and Allen Tompkins (8-3). Huffman's final win of the day came 60 NOV: 1. Ryan Leach greatly improved upon his 250cc Pro loss by jumping out in front in the first Open Pro moto and staying there to the finish. Roby Leach shook off advances from KTM rider Jason Smith to net second at the finish. In moto two, the Herb's Cycletown-backed Leach brothers again rode in tandem and landed the 1-2 positions, leading the fast-starting Smith into the podium positions, led by Ryan Leach. Honda-mounted Ryan Huege was one of the few two-class winners, as the rider from Yamhill, Oregon, posted overall wins in the 80cc Junior and Supermini classes.
