Salt Lake City. UT, Merch 3-4.2000 National Arenacross Series Rounds 26-27: Delta Center Denny Stephenson roosted his way to both the 125 and 250cc mains on Saturday night. Antunez ended up winning that race. eventually taking the checkered flag in second place. Meanwhile, a notexactly-pleased Stephenson was left in the dust and could do nothing about Jeff Willoh and Pedro Gonzalez who rode right passed the regrouping Suzuki rider and into third and fourth place, respectively. Stephenson salvaged fifth place in front of Mike Katin, Justin Huska and Jeromy Buehl. Bogard finished ninth, with Travis Hodges rounding out the top 10. Charlie Bogard on the St. Louis Powersport/MSR Suzuki won the 125cc main. It was his fifth win of the season. Second place went to series point leader Antunez, followed by Stephenson, Willoh, Gonzalez, Jeromy Buehl and Lange. Stephenson returned Saturday night with a vengeance. He blazed through his heat races and won both main events with ease. Antunez failed to make the podium in the 125cc main, finishing close behind runner-up Willoh and thirdplace finisher Bogard. Lange again rode well to finish fifth, ahead of Gon- fter struggling to make the top three in Friday night's main '"'-.: events, Notorious.com/Bill's Pipes/Suzuki's Denny Stephenson rebounded Saturday night by winning every race he competed in. Stephenson worked his way backwards in Friday's 125cc main, eventually finishing third after leading early on, then he crashed on the last lap of the 250cc main to finish fifth. But he put all that behind Saturday night to win both main events, as well as the Dash For Cash. But the surprise of the weekend came on Friday night when little known Darcy Lange, from Coirteray, British Columbia, won the Dash For Cash then ran down Stephenson to win the 250cc main. While Lange was busy up front, Stephenson and his teammate Buddy Antunez engaged in a fierce battle for second place. Their dogfight came to a head on the last lap in the last turn when Antunez made a desperate pass attempt on Stephenson. The move, however, left both riders on the ground, and it was now a race to get back going again. 60 MARCH 22. 2000' eye I e n e VIiI' S zalez, Katin, Hodges and Yamaha rider Keyin Johnson. Antunez fared better in the 250cc main, finishing second behind Stephenson, while Willoh turned in another strong ride to finish out the weekend in third. Gonzalez finished in fourth place for the second time of the weekend, while Bogard completed the top five. ahead of Buehl, Hodges, Johnson and Brad Woolsey. Despite failing to win a single main event in Salt Latke, Antunez still enjoys a comfortable series points lead. He now owns 880 points to Stephenson's 846.
