won a Wrenchead.com Unlimited Superbike race on a Zlock Racing ZX-9 the previous weekend before being disqualified for having an outof-spec motor. "We were down a little bit on speed, but I was happy with the way things turned out. I think one of the last times I rode a 250 was back in '94 (Barnes finished third that year at Daytona as well). I think the bike I had back then was even faster than what I was riding today. I was pleased that I was able to run with these guys up front. I wasn't sure how well I'd do. I'm not sure how many more AMA 250cc GP races I'm going to do. After finishing so well, we may have to take a closer look at doing the entire series." One of the riders who will again pick his spots is the semi-retired veteran Randy Renfrow. Renfrow likes Daytona, so he chose to ride here. But he would make the same mistake as Oliver, and his engine would suffer similar consequences, just a few corners earlier. Behind the leaders, there wasn't much in the way of passing. Broward Motorsports' Quenni King took third after leaving World Sports Yamaha's Perry Melneciuc, who later dropped to fifth behind Blackman's Cycles Michael Himmelsbach. Penguin Racing School's Jeff Wood was seventh in front of German Walter Hoffman on the Piho·Pro Racing Honda. vent Weekends Come and see vintage motorcycles and racing at the AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days West Apri/28-30 see the country's top racers in the Progressive Motorcycle Insurance Superbike Challenge May 5-7 Daytona Intematianal Speedway Daytona Beach, Florida Results: March 12, 2000 [Round 1 of 121 MSNA 250cc GRAND PRIX: 1.
