GA, FEB. 20 Suzuki pilot David Millsaps sel a blistering pace at Silver Dollar Raceway in the final round of the second annual AMA Southern Winter Challenge MX Series. The Florida resident never missed a beat and ran away with all four moto wins in the 80cc (7·11) and (9· 13) divisions. Meanwhile, Ezra Lusk's little brother, Shane. scored double wins in the 80cc (12-15) and I 25cc Youth classes. and Pro ActionfFMF-backed Brian Raymond won both of the A division contests. More than 320 riders from nine states were on hand for the event. Whiie Millsaps outdistanced the pack in 80cc (9·13) racing, Ryan Gilliam's efforts did not go unrewarded, as he overcame a poor second-moto start to net the runner-up honors. Brett Lee's third-overall performance garnered enough points to take the series win over Auston Albers, who suffered a DNF in the final moto. Michael Sisemore absconded with the holeshot in the opening 80cc (12-15) moto. Lusk quickly moved through traffic into second. The final lap of the moto found Sisemore and Lusk in a handiebar-banging duel for the lead. Just two turns from the checkered, the duo tangied and both riders went down. Lusk was up quickly and took the win. Sisemore was shaken in the spill and struggled to a 14th-place finish. Lusk posted a 1- I score after he led the final molo from start to finish. Sisemore was second in the moto but was held to sixth overall, while Gilliam claimed the silver via his 2-3 tally. In the 125cc Youth division, Lusk overcame mid pack starts to win both motos. Meanwhile, Lee Williams and D.C. Thomason waged war for the runner-up honors. Williams had the edge in moto two and claimed the silver in a points tie over Thomason. Series winner Michael Graham was sixth for the day. Williams returned to win the wild and hard- fought 125cc C division, over James Mackey and Jamison Mann. Series winner Bryan Bellamy was fourth. The large 60cc (7-11) division was headed by a trio of high-Aying KTM riders. The KTM that was far out in front both times was piloted by Florida's Kyie Keylon. One of the best contests of the day was in the 125cc Junior division, in which Yamaha rider Kris Lavoie took two moto victories for the overall class honors. In the first moto, Lavoie blasted out to a nice holeshot. Jerome Mage stuffed his YZ 125 into second. and Jason Oliva positioned him- self in third. At the end of lap one, the top five spots were filled out by Joe Uilard and Sean Boulware. Lavoie stretched out a one-second lead on Mage. Lillard went around Oliva on the third iap. By halfway, Mage had apparently found some good lines, and he started inching toward Lavoie and the lead. Just when it looked like the battle for the lead was going to heat up, Lavoie emerged from the back canyon section all alone, as Mage had made a mistake and stepped off his machine. This allowed Lillard to move up to second, Oliva to third, and Boulware to fourth. Mage managed to remount in fifth. Now, with some breathing room, Lavoie opened up a five-second lead, and he was not looking back. In the battle for second piace, Oliva had recovered and was trying to find a way back CHRIS NORR was up to fourth. Liilard bobbled and slid all the way back to fifth. At the checkers. it was Lavoie cruising in for a comfortable moto win. Oliva secured the runner-up spot, and Mage claimed third. Boulware finished strong for fourth, while Liilard settled for fifth. At the start of moto two, Lavoie ripped another holes hot. Mage ran second, while Boulware improved his start and jockeyed into third. Lillard held fourth and Oliva fifth as the pack cleared the scoring section for the first time. Straight away, Lavoie and Mage began to separate themselves from the pack, and the two riders had opened up a five-second gap by lap three. Boulware baiied off on lap four. but he was quick to remount and only Palmdale, California RESIDENCE , OTIIER INTERESTS ... Skateboarding, Snowboarding, BMX 2000 Honda MOTORCYCLES CR80 Expert .. Lavoie enjoyed a twosecond margin, but Mage was keeping him honest. Oliva was again pestering Lillard, looking to make a pass. Just as in the first mota, Mage bobbled at about haifway and crashed, allowing Lillard to move up to second and Oliva into third.
