a better time in his second moto, finishing third for fourth overall behind the 3-4 of Moshe. It wasn't even close in the first Vet Begin~ ner moto, as Dale Hooker shot into an imme· diate lead and eventually pulled out to a 30second lead by time the checkers waved. Nathan Kidder managed to distance himself from Paul Helling en route to his runner~up fin· ish. Hooker grabbed the second-moto start, but this time out he had some competition, in the form of Honda·mounted Stefan Neary, who kept Hooker in his sights as the two front·run· ners steadily pulled away from the field. Hooker proved to be the stronger of the two and was able to put a little cushion between him· self and Neary and sweep the class. Kidder finished in third place, which was good enough for the second~place trophy over the 5-2 of Neary. the crest of victory. saw his win streak come to an end after spending much of both 250cc Pro moros in battle with his archrival, Tony Graves. The former National number· 73 plate holder trailed Leach to the finish in the first moto, but he came back strong in the second contest to narrowly edge Leach, which also netted Graves the overall win ahead of Leach, Merritt and Beal. With nearly 400 entrants on hand, several classes were at overflow capacity, including the aocc, l25cc and 250cc Beginner classes, as well as the Supermini and aocc age-group divisions. Another large class was the Before The Hill Junior contest. Kawasaki rider Austin Gettel, who had earlier topped the 125cc Junior class, capped off his two· class decimation by trouncing the competition in the final. in which he led Steve Miller, Adam Warden, Tim Ricketts, Skylar Goodnight and the rest of the 15rider field to the finish.
