CA. FEB. 20 Michael Penta took one step closer to becoming an Intermediate rider by sweeping both motos of the Vet Novice class during California Racing Club's Sunday motocross, held at Los Angeles County Raceway. Penta took charge of things on the opening lap of moto one as he put his YZ250 out front and never looked back. He continued on for eight uncontested laps on the J.B Memorial Track for an intimidating win. Mark Fields held down second place for the first couple of laps before going down and finishing an eventual sixth. William Welchhance came from out of the pack to settle into second place at the checkers, ahead of Shy Moshe and Myan Spaccarelli. Welchhance was quickest out of the gate in malo two, but by lap two Penta had dropped him a position to once again lead the way. Welchhance was able to keep Penta in his sights for the remainder of the mota, but the retaliatory pass just wasn't in the cards and he had to settle for a 2-2 score. Fields had "1999 WORLD SUPERBIKE SERIES REVIEW" 3 Hours of the Hottest Superbike Racing Ever!
