On lap three, Hale used the back half of the track to close in on Wallace, but Wallace was once again able to gain ground through the uphill. On the white·flag lap. In the 125cc Novice class, Matthew Forsythe, Brandon Beaubout and Adam Turner battled for the lead. Behind them. Rickey Mosley, Thomas Schuler. Robby Shinn and Steven Stout maneuvered for fourth. As Turn· er made his move around Beaubout on lap two, Forsythe charged forward, trying lo keep Turner al bay. Just as Turner began to make ground on Forsythe on lap three, his rear tire blew out. Beaubout quickly moved around Turner and sel his sights on Forsythe. Turner was able to hold on to third. Schuler had moved solidly into fourth by midrace, and he finished in the top five, in front of Shinn. In molo two, Beaubout nailed the holeshot and opened a four-second lead over the pack and won the overall with a 2-1 moto tally. Turner and Forsythe continued their skirmish from moto one. Forsythe's 1·3 gave him second. Tumer's 3·2 landed him solidly in third. FEB. 12 In another "first" for amateur racing in Texas, Village Creek MX Park went "high tech" by using electronic transponders to score the Schoolboy, 125cc and 250cc Pro events. Mirage Race Scoring £, Timing, owned and operated by Marshall and Judy Horn. demon· strated that the transponders not only keep score but provide individual lap times, com· pare each racer's fastest lap times, and count the number of laps each rider completed. The 250 Pro gate was well· represented and full of top· notch racing action. Chris Tor~ renee charged lo the holeshot in moto one, with Ryan Wallace in hot pursuit. Wallace passed Torrence on tap one. and Nathan Hale joined the run for the top spot. making his move on Torrence over the triple after the finish line. All three continued a big-time threeway battle through lap four as Wallace and Hale vied for the lead. Hale waited until the final triple to make his mile· high fly·by past Wallace to take home the victory in moto one. Suzuki pilot Jason Baird powered his way to the holeshot in moto two.
