Gilera 500cc Quattro Cilindri
(Left) The British press honored Bob Mcintyre when - aboard the
Gilera tested here - he became the first rider to complete an entire
lap around the Isle of Man course at over 100 mph. This
newspaper Is dated June 12, 1957.
(Below) The Gilera Four photographed at Italy's Monza circuit,
where Bob Mcintyre set the world hour record in 1957,
and where CN's Alan Cathcart tested It more
recently. For our test, the bike featured a
minimalist fairing, the lo_r portion of
which was removed for this photo.
For his record, Mcintyre utilized
the full-coverage "dust-bin"
fairing that was later
disallowed.
