Canyon Offroad Park Supercross West's brandin' the rest By ZACK McKINLEY PEORIA, AR, JAN. 23 Round one of the nine·race Grand Canyon State Classic series was held on the newly constructed supercross track located directly east of the Canyon Offroad Park motocross track. The 80ce Junior contest was an eventful one. In moto one. CWI/PJ11Biteme rider Kyle Raimonde got his first holeshot and pulled away for 3 1/2 of the seven laps before he faded, letting "Mr. Patience" - Brandon West take the lead. Steve Wihlborg was second, Kyle Jones third, Kyle Raimonde fourth, Chris Messick fifth, Buddi Bruner sixth, Timmy Buettner seventh, John Mahoney eighth, Ryan Nasser ninth. Jeffrey Jenkins 10th and Jimmy Rundle 11th. Rundle had a hard battle with Nasser, who was a bit out of control throughout the mota, although he was the only one in his class to clear all three doubles. Moto two looked rather similar. Raimonde again took a big holeshot and was once again hounded by West. West passed him for first. Bruner was second, Wihlborg third, Jones fourth, Raimonde fifth, Messick sixth, Mahoney seventh, Nasser eighth, Buettner ninth and Rundle 10th. (Jenkins did not start.) The COP staff would like to wish Jimmy Button a speedy recovery. and we wish to see him kick some butt in the outdoor series.
