Georgia Championship Series Finol Round: Echeconnee 011 Rood Pork Cole, Gibson, Ragsdale Score Big at GCS Finale By BillY ATKINSON MACON, GA, OCT. 30 T he racetrack called Echeconnee is a favorite Georgia racetrack, though it only runs a few times a year. The last round of the Georgia Championship Series had more than 400 riders make it through signup. Often, the last race of a series only has the riders who need points show up, but at this event the gates were pretty full for each class. Grab a smoothie and let's get a seat! The 50cc (4-6) class looked like a Cobra convention. as riders of that marque not only swept the podium but the top five places. Shawn Lewis [Ook charge and won both motos with no problem. Tristan Lewis took the second spot with a solid performance. Jammari Wise scored third overall to secure the one-brand domination. When the 65cc (7-9) gate fell, it was the KTM-mounted Perry Grimsley winning both motos for the overall victory. Dillon Smith and Cater Old know swapped places in the two motos, with Smith finishing second overall with a final-moto push and Old know earning the final podium poSition. All the top three riders were on orange motorcycles. making for a KTM sweep of the class. The 85cc (12-15) Senior Mini division was the Derek Rogers show, as he scored two moto wins. Everyone had better look out when he gets on a bigger Suzuki! Cory Perdue brought his Suzuki from the Lone Star State and used it to secure the second-overall honors. Honda rider Ashley Fiolek was steady to take third overall. The Youth (12-15) class saw Kawasaki jockey P.J. Larsen win the overall with a moto-one win and a runner-up finish in the second moto. Honda-mounted Kendall Mason was steady for the second podium step. Cameron Stone, on another Honda. took third overall. The I25cc C class is always a big one when it comes to rider count. Honda-mounted Mason Cole took the overall win. Honda rider Jerry Mayo won the final moto to take the secondoverall spot. Richie Gibson, on his 8ig Daddy's Cycle World Kawasaki. took the third podium spot by staying steady. The 250cc C class was the Richie Gibson show. Gibson won both motos on his 450cc Kawasaki - not bad for his first time on the bike! Justin Morris, on his Pro Circuit Kawasaki, took second overall when Gibson didn't falter. Yamaha pilot Richard Weaver took third overall. The 250cc B class saw a Honda sweep, with james Ragsdale winning both motos. Zack Alkire and Tyler jugel battled for second, but Alkire's final moto earned him second overall and kept jugel in third overall. The Over 40 class is no AARP benefit, by any means. Earl May and his new 450cc Kawasaki took the honors with two moto wins. Honda jockey Jon McCabe did the business for the second podium spot. Kevin Brule put down his wrenches, mounted his 450cc Kawasaki and took third overall. The big green machines are looking good. deB_.iii ~''O~ 4i1i~~!l!iMifmliIIi2I FRESE !Jm . . ._ ~<18~@ ~'F' Cycle News is perfect for everyone.
