Leivan slithered through the inside of turn one and snatched
the lead, ahead of Aaron Shaw and Caleb Wohletz. Leivan
promptly took a poor line through the slippery creek bed that
began the loop, and Shaw followed him, while Wohletz calmly
rode past them and into the lead. Wohletz was ready to go and
immediatety set a quick pace.
UttIe by little, Leivan inched doser to WOOletz, and by the end
of lap one (of four), the pair had distanced themselves from Shaw.
Lap two saw Wohletz open a small lead again through a
technical section of off-camber hills strewn with rocks. This
section was the start of the lap, and the Team Green!
MooselFMF/N-Style/Renthal racer was getting through there
faster than Leivan. Within a couple of miles, though, Leivan was
again shadowing every move Wahlen made.
Going into lap three, WOOletz stopped for fuel, while Leivan
rode past and entered the creek bed. In a matter of seconds,
WOOletz had drawn back up to his championship rival's rear tire, but
he didn't attempt a pass, which kept both riders dry and with clear
vision. Shaw was steady in third at this point, while Kawasakimounted Mark Gay fended off Gary Wetherell in a battle for fourth.
With the positions ~, Leivan led the way while Wohletz
