en the 750cc version of the Brutale came out, it raised quite a few ~ ~
and those were just from the people that had laid their envious eyes on iii
beautiful Massimo Tamburini-penned lines. Those lucky enough to own one
of the 5000 copies of the bike sold thus far know that there is more to
the Brutale than just a pretty face. The Brutale meant business and
wasn't shy about proving it. But just as MV Agusta was forced to make its latest F4
1000cc, in order to compete in the world of high-performance Superbikes, the company
was also forced to increase the displacement of the Brutale as well.
The competition (in the form of the 1050cc Triumph Speed Triple, 997cc Aprilia
Tuono, 996cc Ducati S4R, 1203cc Buell Lightning, 919cc Honda 919, 953cc Kawasaki
Z I000 and the 998cc Yamaha FZ I) has forced MV Agusta to get serious and
get back into the hunt for naked bike supremacy.
For 2006, MV AguSta introduces the 910 Brutale, obViously with a
910cc version of the liqUid-cooled, four-cylinder motor with 16
radial-arranged valves. MV claims 136 horsepower at the crankshaft
at 11,000 rpm and 70.8 ft.-Ibs. of torque at 7900 rpm.
The 909.1 cc motor is very similar to the 750cc unit except for the
new bore and stroke dimensions. The bore has been increased from
73.8mm to 76mm, and the stroke has been increased from 43.8mm
to 50.1 mm. The compression ratio has been raised from 12: I to 13: I.
Engineers were able to increase the capacity of the motor without
increasing the physical size of the motor, which enabled them to retain the
existing frame. The gearbox is an extractable cassette unit.
