The motor in the Brutale is a new 910cc unit that pumps out a claimed nine more horsepower than the 750 but packs almost 14 more ft.-Ibs. of tarque than the previous bike. Despite the fact that the displacement was increased through shared use of components from the F4 1000, engineers were able to reduce the weight of the motor by 5.8 pounds. An added advantage is that many of the lighter components are reciprocating parts, such as the crankshaft, camshafts, con-rods and pistons, primary drive and clutch, and the gearbox and bearings. This should make the bike easier to flick from side to side and make the bike more responsive, not only in terms of how it revs but also how it handles. Speaking of handling, the frame on the 910 Brutale is a tubular, trellis-style unit made from chrome-molybdenum steel, which is unique to MV Agusta for a current fourcylinder motorcycle (in addition to the F4). The front suspension is deSigned around the fully adjustable, 50mm, inverted Marzocchi Magnum fork that also features a qUick-release mechanism for the axle. The rear shock is a fully adjustable Sachs unit. Braking is handled by a pair of 31 Omm discs up front with six-piston Nissin F4 calipers up front. Out back is a 210mm disc squeezed by a four-piston Nissin F4 caliper. The wheels are still the beautiful, star-shaped I7-inch units. Either Pirelli Super Corsa Pro or Michelin Pilot Sport tires will come as OE fitment. The front tire is either a 120/70ZR 17 or 120/65ZR17, and the rear will come with one of three tires: a 190/50ZR17, a 180/55ZR 17 or a new I90/55ZR I7 Pirelli. Three color combinations are available. One option is the black frame with red tank, mudguard and side panels, with a second option being the red frame with gloss black tank, red mudguard and red side panels. The third choice is the bike you see pictured here with the red frame and metallic silver tank, mudguard and side panels. The suggestOil ed retail price is pending and will be available soon.
